Spiralist

You drop in a photo and it gets redrawn as a single line that never lifts off the paper. There are four ways the line can go:

• Spiral: the classic one. The line spirals out from the center and gets thicker where the photo is dark.

• Wander: the line meanders all over the image and packs tighter in the shadows, kind of like TSP art. You tap where it should start and it never crosses itself.

• Contour: traces the outlines of the face (or cat, or whatever) like those Picasso one-line drawings, and glides from shape to shape with thin connecting strokes.

• Maze: when I first said "maze" I meant "goes in unexpected directions", it took me literally and built an actual labyrinth. It looked good so I kept it.

There are 11 tools: pencil, pen, fountain ink, crayon, ballpoint, marker, brush, charcoal, chalk, neon, gold.
7 papers: sketchbook, cream, watercolor, kraft, black card, chalkboard, blueprint.

The paper is generated in code, and the grain looks the same in the preview and in a 4K export.

The part I like most is the timelapse. You pick 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9 and 10 to 60 seconds, and it renders an MP4 right in the browser.

In cinematic mode the camera starts close on the pen, then pulls back while the portrait fills in, with depth of field, a wooden desk and your photo taped next to the sheet. A 10 second vertical clip at 60fps renders in about 7 seconds on my laptop.

Other stuff:

• PNG up to 8K, and SVG for pen plotters (the wave mode is a single stroke)
• nothing gets uploaded, it all runs in your browser and works offline after the first load
• the stats line tells you how long your line is. A spiral portrait printed 17 cm wide is about 19 meters of line
• the sample images are generated in code too, the plaster bust is ray-marched in a shader
